A world-wide games day held in Warlord Games, USA and in clubs and shops in Australia.
The Ghost of Yu Hamnu: An Antares Day mini-Campaign
Consternation grows around Antares as the events of Xilos causes gates to become unstable: whilst some are still being created, and there still more than five million gates, more gates are closing than are being created, causing fears of a new dark age. Is the Antares nexus about to collapse, again? Once more, the Isori are given the blame after using their chronophasic device in an attempt to resolve the Xilos disaster, but blame is not enough…
In three systems in the Determinate, ancient, dormant technology in archeological sites springs to life. Whilst it is doubtful the technology is of Builder origin, it appears to be sufficiently advanced to be able to partially predict gate activity: at least, it seems to indicate the direction in which activity – a closure – is about to occur, and all three together can triangulate a location. But there is no clear user interface to the technology and even more mysteriously, what are thought to be status indicators occasionally flash up two words in the Concord alphabet: Yu Hamnu.
Did the NuHu Ambassador Yu Hamnu really survive the Xilos Catastrophe, somehow safe behind the time-locks? Is she trying to communicate with the rest of the Nexus? Has she activated the ancient technology or is she just using it to communicate what she alone can see at the heart of Xilos? Most importantly, does this mean Yu Hamnu can stall the collapse? If so, are the ancient machines a part of her plan?
There are far too many questions, but all shape the future of Antares. Whether preventing a collapse or predicting gate closures, the three artefacts are suddenly of immense importance to all the people of Antares. The race to control the future is on!
Mini-Campaign/Faction League Games Day
The games day is a themed Antares tournament in which the most successful faction rather than individual wins the day. Three very different scenarios (created by community member Jamie Howard) have only two army lists, one of a 600 point Exploration Force and the other of that list extended to 600-PLUS. The lists may gradually deteriorate throughout the day, so army selection is vital! We’ll share the scenarios and results in the Player’s Pack, later.
Registration opens from 09:00 and prize-giving for best player, best-painted army and painting competition at the finish (around 18:00).
There will be a chance to buy Antares mugs in the shop and attendees can also purchase Antares ‘Ghost of Yu Hamnu’ event polo shirts.
Warlord staff will be on hand to talk Antares and game designer Mr Rick Priestley will be around to talk to – but as ever be careful of his tactical advice!
Players are advised to bring their own food and drink but there are shops nearby.
Event will be on the 5th October 2019 at Warlord HQ: Warlord Games HQ, Lenton Boulevard, Nottingham, UK, NG7 2BD, and at other locations around the world!
As of the early bird deadline on 28th September, the make-up of the confirmed forces and total faction VP so far are shown below. We’ve still got more lists to come in and have more registrations which will come in next week, and there are still a few places left.
All Freeborn and Privateer lists have been classed as one group – after all, they will all try and do the best trade they can with their spoils – and the Ghar have also been merged, simply because they’ll all want to use it to the same end: destroy panhumanity!
