Senatex Phase Trooper
Combat Level: Tactical
Where: Core Rulebook
Given their common heritage, it is hardly surprising that the Phase Squads are similar to their counterparts, the C3 Strike Squad. Phase Squads, whether panhuman or Tsan Ra, are at the core of the Isorian Senatex’ armed forces and are arguably the best-equipped fighters in all of Antarean space. They carry the multi-function plasma carbines and are protected by phase armour which includes a hyperlight core.
This advanced armour provides complete atmospheric isolation as well as protection against enemy weapons but with a twist: the armour desynchronises the wearer’s position in real‐space, isolating them from harm, but must then resynchronise for the wearer to interact with the environment. In practice, the phase field is in constant flux, and to be most effective the wearer must expand the time phased out, reducing the overall amount of active time. In game terms, the Phase Squads can automatically make a ‘Down’ Reaction, even if they have already played their order dice.
Phase Squads are often accompanied by small buddy drones, such as a spotter drone that feeds vital targeting information into the squad’s sophisticated combat shard.
A member of the squad can be issued with a plasma lance. This is larger and bulkier than a standard plasma carbine and calibrated to deliver a single highpowered plasma bolt, useful against heavily armoured or highly resistant targets. This is at the expense expense of range, but in other respects the plasma lance has a comparable performance to the regular carbine, although less accurate.
Good options for the Phase Squad are similar to that of their cousins, the C3 Strike Squads. An upgrade to a lance trooper plus a spotter really helps enhance the unit, upgrading its penetration and enabling it to shoot at a multiple targets. This can result in the squad putting out 2-3 in a turn on two separate units if the leader takes Slingnet as well.
The Senatex Command squad is armed similarly to the phase troopers but the leader has enhanced special attributes to reflect his abilities. The squad has veteran troopers who are more accurate than normal squads – something to consider as, numerically, it can be upgraded to as many as a normal squad.

* One trooper in a Phase Squad can be upgraded to carry a hard-hitting plasma lance.
The Phase and Command squads can be given extra troopers, a spotter drone and/or synchroniser drone, as well as plasma grenades. The PhaseLeader or Commander can be given SlingNet ammo for the X-sling and have a Leader upgrade. The Command squad can also be given a medi-drone.
Phase Squads and Phase Command Squads are currently avalable in metal as unit packs. Phase troopers are available individually and in a deal including all current poses to make two squads.
